about

The life that was and the life of today raise profound themes for reflection which here materialize into an amalgam of sound, immersing us in the “Two Worlds” towards which the musicians of the Latin European Project gravitate. This serves as an aesthetic crucible which can be called “musical impressionism” by virtue of the palette of possibilities provided by the two geographical contexts that characterize them.

The abstract textures that become almost palpable during joint improvisation transport us to a plane where everyday images from the Caribbean and the Americas are presented in ephemeral and evocative form across the many different perceptions invoked by the music. This is the reason behind the title “Latin Jazz en 2 tiempos”— Jazz in two different phases or two different points in time. The weaving together of two time periods, the past and the present in diluted form, and ambivalence of time and space are phenomena at the core of this project and a source of inspiration.

For this first album by the Latin European Project, I wanted to involve a group of artists who could bring a lot of richness and widened musical horizons to the project, which I hope they have enjoyed.

This album is dedicated to the musicians, family and friends who have made it possible, with my thanks.
